Memorial Markers, Headstones & Monuments, and Covers

Memorial Markers

Temporary markers are required.

The Municipality shall not assume any liability or responsibility for the loss or damage to, any marker or any part thereof, or any article of any type that may be placed with any marker and/or plot.

Monuments & Headstones

To reduce the possibility of improper placement of monuments and to facilitate documentation; no person shall install any monument(s) or memorial(s) without first notifying the Municipality and obtaining permission from the Municipality.

Upright, or flat, or raised, or none – it is your choice.  Likewise, the style is up to you, and also whether or not to have any built-in receptacle for flowers, etc.  Any and all headstones must be place completely within the boundaries of the gravesite, so that there is no overlapping of walkways or other graves.  Also if there is more than one headstone for a grave, then they must all be placed together, side-by-side (not infront), at the west end of the grave, still within its boundaries.

All monuments shall be constructed of durable material, i.e. bronze, granite or marble.

Permanent corner markers and foot markers are not allowed.

In the new section, all temporary markers or headstones must be placed on the 2 ft. x 4 ft. cement slabs provided.

The old section requires a uniform 2 ft. x 4 ft. cement base for headstones to be placed upon.

Headstones should have a minimum 3 inch margin from the edge of the base.

The Caretaker may remove any monument which has become unsightly, dilapidated or dangerous.

The Municipality shall not assume any liability or responsibility for the loss or damage to, any monument or any part thereof, or any article of any type that may be placed on any monument and/or plot.

Cement or Plastic Grave Covers

Cement or plastic grave covers are not permitted.  Plot owner(s) who remove old and deteriorated grave covers will not be permitted to replace such cover.

The Caretaker may remove any grave cover which has become unsightly, dilapidated or dangerous.

The Municipality shall not assume any liability or responsibility for the loss or damage to, any grave covers or any part thereof, or any article of any type that may be placed on any cover and/or plot.
