Rural Civic Addressing Program

What it’s For:

The signs appearing at the end of rural driveways in the Municipality of Souris Glenwood are the new numbering for dwellings and other structures. These numbers are assigned in accordance with the Provincial guidelines for addressing and are tied to the new road naming scheme.

How it Works:

The numbering for structures is based on two factors: i) the “block” of the road segment (e.g. Between Road 114W and Road 115W is Block 114), and ii) the distance that the driveway is located along that road segment. A rural address comprises a number and a road name, just the same as in any urban community (e.g. 123 Main Street).

What You Need to Know:

In the case of an emergency, dial 911 and give the operator your civic number (located on the blue sign at the end of the lane), road number (the road number the approach is accessed off of) and municipality or community you are located in. Ex) 12345 Rd 124, Souris-Glenwood.

Please ensure all members of your family know your full address. We recommend posting “your” address in your home near the phone for quick reference.
