PUBLIC STATEMENT
Regarding Plum Creek Bridge
|
The Municipality has completed the engineering reviews and documentation required to support a Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) review related to the Plum Creek Bridge. The bridge has significant structural concerns that require engineered solutions before it can safely reopen. The Municipality is currently awaiting assessment through the Province’s DFA process, which includes review by an engineering firm appointed through the provincial process. Until DFA eligibility has been reviewed, Council is not in a position to proceed with repair, mitigation, or other solution work that could affect potential funding eligibility. The Municipality has completed the steps within its control and is awaiting processing and assessment through DFA. Because the next step is with the provincial DFA review process, the Municipality is not able to provide a timeline at this time for when the bridge may be temporarily or permanently remediated and reopened. Council recognizes the inconvenience caused by the continued closure and appreciates the public’s patience while this external review process is completed. Further updates will be provided as additional information becomes available regarding DFA eligibility and the next steps for repairs through the municipal website and the Municipality’s mass communication system, Connect. Instructions on how to sign up for Connect are available on the municipal website at Municipality of Souris-Glenwood Website |
